Maryland –June 15th 2009 – HuntOnly.com brings its visitors the latest innovation in Trail Cameras and website technology. HuntOnly.com with the help of Smart Scouter Trail Cameras has developed a Real- Time Trail Camera Photo Gallery. The gallery is updated every hour 24/7 with the latest photos from the Smart Scouter Trail Cameras. To further our deer hunting efforts we setup Smart Scouter Trail Cameras on our farms to monitor deer and other game movements. When the cameras take a photo the camera automatically connects to HuntOnly.com and uploads the photo to the Real-Time Trail Camera Photo Gallery. No more watching empty video feeds or waiting hours for animals to walk into view. Our allery only displays photos of game animals and it is updated hourly with the latest pictures from each of our cameras. Our Trail Camera Gallery brings you the most up to date photos without all the waiting and having to be there at the perfect time that can come with watching live video feeds. The best of both worlds is brought to you by HuntOnly.com!

HuntOnly.com and our team of developers have finally made this idea a reality. The Real-Time Trail Camera Photo Gallery is officially online and our visitors can enjoy a Trail Camera Gallery that is updated every hour with the latest photos from the field! Stop by everyday to see the latest photos of the giant whitetails and other game animals on our farms. Watch the velvet bucks grow this summer and follow them into the fall with Real-Time updates 24/7.

Hunting is a waiting game. You sit and wait, hoping your game comes close enough for the shot. Something hunters overlook is the time AFTER the shot. Sometimes game does not drop immediately. Tracking is involved and if the tracking is at night tracking is going to take longer especially if your shot missed or just grazed the vitals. There may only be a spot of blood here and there. Hunters need to make sure that if they take that shot they have enough time to track down that animal whether it’s 10 minutes or several hours. Don’t take that shot knowing in ten minutes you have to leave the woods and come back later. Another hunter might see the wounded animal and fire on it, keeping it as theirs or the wild animals could get it or even worse the wounded animal could wander out onto the road. As you plan your next hunt, think about timing. Try not to stay in the woods until you have to leave. Be responsible and be safe while hunting.

Buckmasters Tip of the Week: It Won’t Be Long Now; It’s Time to Tune

Whether you use fixed-blade or mechanical broadheads, tuning your bow will make your arrows fly better. If you have access to a paper tuning device, by all means use it. A paper-tuned bow will shoot almost any broadhead with minimal, if any, adjustment.

If you can’t use a paper tuner, shoot your arrows with a head identical to one you’ll be using in the woods. If you’re still hitting the kill zone, pat yourself on the back and get ready to hunt. If your broadhead-equipped arrows group differently from your field points, however, you have several options.

If the difference is only slight and the arrows are grouping well, just adjust your sight pins until you’re back in the bull’s eye. If you see a big difference and/or the arrows are not grouping well, it’s a good idea to make some tuning adjustments. If you can’t see your arrows well as they fly, have a friend stand just behind you to watch your arrow as you shoot.

If the arrow is porpoising (tailing left and right) on its way to the target, you’ll need to move your rest in or out until you get clean arrow flight. If the arrow wobbles up and down on its way to the target, you need to move the nocking point OR adjust the rest up or down.

Once your arrows are flying smoothly, adjust your sight pins and you should be all set. Something to keep in mind as you make bow adjustments is that most things on your bow should look normal and fairly “square.” In other words, when looking at your bow from behind, nock an arrow and check to see that it looks straight as it protrudes from the bow. Next look at it from the side. Your arrow should come off the string at just over 90 degrees (slightly nock high) and can even look perfectly square if you’re shooting a string loop.

While there’s no doubt that tuning for broadheads is a pain, it’s one of those essential chores that many bowhunters skip. Those same hunters often end up paying the price with a miss… or worse.

Buckmasters Tip of the Week: Handle With Care

Buckmasters Tip of the Week: Handle With Care

I had the good fortune to take a nice buck last season. I thought I kept the buck’s shoulders and neck off the ground as I dragged my 160 1/8-inch, 270-pound deer out of the woods. To make a long story short, the fur on the buck’s right shoulder was worn down to its skin.

Luckily, the taxidermist was able to fix the area. Remember to be careful and use a deer cart or the floor mats of your vehicle to protect the deer’s hide while dragging it out of the woods.

–This week’s tip was submitted by U.S. Air Force Master Sgt. Rickey A. Monroe, Kirtland AFB.

Tip of the Week: Take a Stand

The most effective way to hunt white-tailed deer is to take a stand in a productive spot and just sit there quietly. Mobile stands such as treestands and tripods are practical because they allow you to adjust to deer movements.

Stands work for a number of reasons. We play a cat-and-mouse game with whitetails. Deer are using all their senses to detect danger, and we’re using our senses — mostly sight — to locate them. What generally attracts your attention to a deer? Movement. Your eye is attracted to the movement. When you are moving through the woods, it is the movement that the deer sees as well. If you sit perfectly still, a deer can look right at you and not recognize the danger.

In this game, whichever side is moving is at a disadvantage. That’s one reason sitting still is so effective. When you hunt from an elevated stand you’re also getting your scent above the deer. Just don’t get the idea that being 20 feet up a tree makes you invisible. Deer will look up, and they will see you in a treestand.

Remember, air currents will move your scent down to the deer, particularly in the afternoon when the temperature is cooling and the air currents are moving downhill. In the morning, your scent generally rises.

Tip of the Week: Fix Wavy Vanes Without Refletching

Plastic vanes are great, but one of their drawbacks is the tendency become wavy if the fletchings are coming in contact with your rest, or if you shoot through your target. While it’s good to know if your fletchings are coming in contact with your rest, it’s also a pain to have to refletch every time you get a wavy vane.

Believe it or not, these wavy vanes often can be straightened with a hot hair dryer. Put a hair dryer on its hottest setting and heat up your wavy vanes. Often they will straighten up in the hot air and be good as new.

Don’t Give Up On A Good Scrape

Most hunters like to hunt near fresh buck sign, and what could be better than a hot scrape? Unfortunately, hunting a scrape can be a real hit-or-miss proposition. After all, it’s a good possibility that the buck is checking/refreshing its scrapes at night. Rather than spending day after unproductive day on stand or (and more likely) spending one or two days and then giving up and moving somewhere else, get into the buck’s head.

Help the buck make that daylight mistake by juicing up the scrape and staying with it. Sprinkle in some buck urine and some hot doe pee as well. Make him think he’s really missing something throughout the day. Watch the scrape carefully to make sure the buck is still refreshing it. If he’s not, then it’s time to move.
