We had the opportunity to visit the latest Field and Stream store and see what they have to offer. We went on Sunday November 3, 2013. They had their opening on Friday, November 1 but I had to miss it. I was really impressed with their opening weekend activities. Upon parking we saw their archery booth outside in the parking lot for the kids. I’m pretty sure it was free I didn’t see money exchanging hands. There was a long line of parents waiting with their kids to take their shot at the styrofoam deer.
Next up we saw this chopper. Pretty cool looking!
Then they had a guy giving fishing demos in a huge tank. I was impressed with how he tossed out his line. Not like I do but he used a circular motion spinning the lure a couple of times and then letting it fly. He was really accurate. He drew the crowd in and threw out some fake worms he was using. He threw them to the kids in the audience. He was a great showman and kept the audiences attention.
The store was awesome inside. They had a lot of staff on hand and we were thanked multiple times for visiting them. Field and Streams archery selection was awesome. Their gun selection looked too also. The gun area was really busy. They had a “take a number” system setup. On my second trip back a week later it was busy but they were not doing the take a number system.
There is a big paddling section also. If you’re looking for a kayak Field and Stream has the one you’re looking for.
Field and Stream’s camping selection was great too. They have anything you need from hiking tents to family style tents for camping at a campground. They also have a full line of camp stoves, food, and hiking backpacks. Field and Stream also has a wide selection of camping cooking wares, from pots and pans to stoves, and dehydrated foods.
One thing I didn’t see is rock clinbing related gear there. I guess for your rock climbing gear you can go online or check out the closest REI I defeinitely remember seeing all of the apparatus and shoes when I went to our REI store.
They also have a great selection of products for processing wild game. From meat grinders to sausage stuffers. They sell seasonings for the meat and also smokers/dehydrators and have a wide range to choose from.
If you’re into the outdoors and need gear you should definitely check out the newly opened Northern Kentucky Field and Stream store. They have a wide selection of outdoors gear. Definitely go there!
Next I want to check out the new Dick’s Sporting Goods that opened up a week later in Newport. We have one closer but it’s fun to check out the new outdoor stores in town.
