House of Jerky Beef Jerky Review

I love beef jerky. Almost any kind. But when I find one that sticks out and makes me want more I want to share it. The kind people at House of Jerky were nice enough to send me an assortment of their jerkies to try out. I have to say we really enjoyed the beef jerky they sent us. Our favorite beef jerky was the “Sweet & Spicy Beef Brisket“. It was really good. My other favorite is the hot beef jerky. I say favorite here but I enjoy all of the beef jerkies that House of Jerky was nice enough to send me.

The beef jerky they send us was very moist as opposed to some of the jerkys that have most of the moisture evaporated in a dehydrator. There are no preservatives used in the making of the beef jerky from House of Jerky. The beef jerkies from House of Jerky were an assortment of flavors and types of animals. They have jerkies that are sweet and spicy, hot, teriyaki, black pepper. All good stuff. The assortment of animals ranges from beef (duh!), venison, buffalo, salmon, and some more exotic animals such as kangaroo and wild boar! Another cool thing is their “JerkyPoints” program where you can accumulate points for buying jerky or writing a review on their site. You get 1 point for every dollar spent and also one point for every review. One point is currently worth ten cents off. Save up your points and use them to get free jerky!

Why beef jerky is great for camping:

  • Beef jerky is lightweight
  • It doesn’t take up a lot of space when packing for your trip or in your daypack when hiking.
  • It does not require refridgeration
  • Once opened it will not go bad
  • Not just for camping, but beef jerky is a snack food that is good for you it’s high in iron and protein.
  • Bring along some cheese and crackers and top them with jerky for a tasty camping snack.

That being said it’s not good to eat beef jerky if you are on a limited or no-sodium diet. You may have to find another favorite camping snack for that. Besides taking beef jerky with us another favorite to bring is a good trail mix. Mmmm mmm!

What is your favorite flavor of beef jerky? I’m a fan of spicy foods so I enjoy the hot ones.

How spicy would you say the hot jerky is? That would probably be one of my favorites too. Beef jerky is one of my all-time favorite snacks for hiking and camping.

The hot it pretty hot. Not so hot it hurts for some time after you eat it but hot enough that your mouth burns a little.
