REI Cincinnati Storefront
I was lucky enough to be able to make it to the REI Cincinnati soft opening last Friday, September 28, 2012. It was a great opening. REI in case you’re wondering stands for Recreational Equipment, Inc. A local news program had reported their opening as 9 and it was really 10 so some in line weren’t able to make it because of other things going on. The staff were able to quickly pull everything together and were able to open their doors at about 9:30. We were greeted by applauding staff members. The staff at REI Cincinnati was very helpful, making sure everything was ok. I was also given a REI Cincinnati water bottle and a gift card. I was told the card would be worth anywhere between $10 and $250 by someone who was also waiting in line. Mine was $10. I can’t complain. I ended up getting some small things: a football, deck of cards, and some freeze dried ice cream for our upcoming camping trip. The freeze dried ice cream was a hit with everyone!
Below are some pics from the REI Cincinnati soft opening that I took. Their full grand opening is October 5-7, 2012. The manager said that people will usually camp out overnight for spots in line for the grand opening. I don’t know if I’ll make it up for that.

Thanks for sharing this post awhile back! I was able to attend a pre grnad opening event at REI, as well as the grand opening and I had a blast. I wanted to reach out and share some exclusive news with you that pertains to REI’s Cincinnati location.
With the outdoor industry presence growing in the Tri-State area, REI is at the forefront of the movement. Venturepax, a Cincinnati tech-based startup, has partnered with the new REI location, and is challenging their outdoor community to capture and share their adventures. This enables REI and other companies to engage and connect with their customers on an entirely new level via social media.
