Very interesting way to make cover, I always just tried to pick out a good spot. I really don't like adding to much to my area because the deer can sense different things in their area.

Mule deer don't pattern like whitetail, so treestands don't work real well - although they aren't a terrible waste, either. I'm hunting out of one for the first time for elk - I know a heavily traveled trail - we'll see!

No tree stand? Around here in KY it seems like you have to be in one to get a good deer. It sucks because I'm not a fan of heights so my choices are limited to hunting on the ground or nothing for deer.

Good idea. I don't hunt from a tree stand much - but when I do, it is near impossible to find the "perfect" tree!
